Suresh G Kare, executive chairman of Indoco Remedies, Mumbai has received ‘Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar’ (Lifetime Achievement Award) at the hands of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Laxmikant Parsekar. This award was given by Lokmat, the leading newspaper in Goa, in appreciation for Suresh Kare’s selfless social work apart from an excellent track record as Goa’s legendary industrialist. The event took place on Thursday March 23, 2015, at the Kala Academy in Panjim, Goa.
Parsekar stated that it is his privilege to honour Suresh Kare and he truly deserves this award.
This award is very special to me as I am receiving this at the hands of The Chief Minister of Goa, where Indoco has its roots. I owe my success to my fellow Indocoites and dedicate this award to them, said Kare in his reply.
Kare has not only contributed significantly to the success of his own company, Indoco Remedies, but has also worked for the welfare of the society. He has been the past president of the Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA) and an active member of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA). Through these and other organizations, he has represented the pharma industry on many government committees. Kare is associated with various social, cultural and educational institutions in Mumbai and Goa. He is the president of The Goa Hindu Association’s Sneha Mandir, a modern home for the aged at Bandora-Goa and the managing trustee of ‘Suresh-Kare Indoco Foundation’, a charitable trust established to promote higher education for deserving students and social upliftment of the society. He is also a lover of art and music, which he helps to promote.
